Abandoned villages of the Borsky district of the Nizhny Novgorod region. Finding abandoned villages

Brick, Orthodox Church, built in 1864 at the expense of Colonel P. A. Krivtsov in a village separated from the parish of Makaria-Prytyk. A single-domed (probably originally five-domed) four-pillar building in the Russian-Byzantine style, built according to the exemplary design of K. A. Ton. There is no floor in this building, and there are many pigeons flying, sometimes they can even scare you, because the place is too quiet and calm. The church is pretty good...

Due to the camp's remoteness from civilization, most of the buildings have been preserved in their original form. The elevated location offers beautiful views of the surrounding nature camps. According to some sources, the pioneer camp was sold, all the furniture and equipment were taken away, and they wanted to make a summer hotel. According to others, the camp was simply abandoned and has been in this state since approximately 2009. The area is completely overgrown, part of the dining room has rotted and...

The military unit is in very poor, and in some places in disrepair, condition. In some buildings, the roof is falling in and walls are collapsing. Everything that can be stolen has been stolen. They even took out sand, as evidenced by numerous holes and entire ravines. There are piles of empty military boxes and ordinary household garbage. However, in the midst of all this devastation, street lighting is fully functional and turns on in the evening. Part of the territory is still operational and...

In 1951-1952 the plant began construction of the Palace of Culture, which, however, dragged on until 1962. The new Palace was opened on April 19, 1962, on the eve of the anniversary of the leader’s birth, so it was named after Lenin. On the outskirts of Arzamas there are old Soviet elevators, built for the needs of the local bakery "Arzamas bread". They were abandoned due to a major fire in 2008. The building became unsuitable for further use for its intended purpose, and the brick buildings adjacent to it were destroyed by fire. Access to two of the five buildings of the complex is possible: the internal staircases and floors have been preserved. Access to others is difficult: in two cases the windows...

There is no point in hiding that abandoned villages and other populated areas are the object of research for many people who are passionate about treasure hunting (and not only). There is a place for those who like attic searching to roam, to “ring through” the basements of abandoned houses, to explore wells, and much more. etc. Of course, the likelihood that your colleagues or local residents have visited this locality before you is very high, but, nevertheless, there are no “knocked out places”.

Reasons that lead to the desertion of villages

Before starting to list the reasons, I would like to dwell on the terminology in more detail. There are two concepts - abandoned settlements and disappeared settlements.

Disappeared settlements - geographical features, today, have completely ceased to exist due to military actions, man-made and natural disasters, and time. In place of such points one can now see a forest, a field, a pond, anything, but not standing abandoned houses. This category of objects is also of interest to treasure hunters, but we are not talking about them now.

Abandoned villages precisely belong to the category of abandoned settlements, i.e. towns, villages, hamlets, etc., abandoned by residents. Unlike the disappeared settlements, the abandoned ones for the most part retain their architectural appearance, buildings and infrastructure, i.e. are in a state close to the time when locality was abandoned. So people left, why? A decline in economic activity, which we can see now, as people from villages tend to move to the city; wars; disasters of various types (Chernobyl and its environs); other conditions that make living in a given region inconvenient and unprofitable.

How to find abandoned villages?

Naturally, before heading headlong to the search site, it is necessary to prepare a theoretical basis, saying in simple words, calculate these most likely places. A number of specific sources and tools will help us with this.

Today, one of the most accessible and fairly informative sources is Internet:

The second quite popular and accessible source- these are ordinary topographic maps. It would seem, how can they be useful? Yes, very simple. First of all, enough famous maps The General Staff has already marked both tracts and uninhabited villages. It is important to understand one thing here: a tract is not only an abandoned settlement, but simply any part of the area that is different from other areas of the surrounding area. And yet, on the site of the tract there may not be any village for a long time, but that’s okay, walk around with a metal detector among the holes, collect metal garbage, and then you’ll get lucky. Not everything is simple with non-residential villages either. They may not be completely uninhabited, but may be used, say, as summer cottages, or may be occupied illegally. In this case, I don’t see any point in doing anything, no one needs problems with the law, and the local population can be quite aggressive.

If you compare the same map of the General Staff and a more modern atlas, you can notice some differences. For example, there was a village in the forest on the General Staff, a road led to it and suddenly the road to more modern map disappeared, most likely, the residents left the village and began to bother with road repairs, etc.

The third source is local newspapers, local people, local museums. Communicate more with the natives, interesting topics There are always people available for conversation, and in between times you can ask about the historical past of a given region. What can locals tell you about? Yes, a lot of things, the location of the estate, the manor’s pond, where there are abandoned houses or even abandoned villages, etc.

Local media is also a fairly informative source. Moreover, now even the most provincial newspapers are trying to acquire their own website, where they diligently post individual notes or even entire archives. Journalists travel a lot on their business and interview, including old-timers, who like to mention various interesting facts during their stories.

Don’t hesitate to visit provincial local history museums. Not only are their exhibitions often interesting, but a museum employee or guide can also tell you a lot of interesting things.

A new service has appeared on the Internet that collects information about abandoned objects in Russia. Objects are divided into the following groups: “Institutions”, “Military”, “Factory”, “Construction sites”, “Underground” and others. As it turned out, in Nizhny Novgorod region many abandoned objects have been registered, which connoisseurs of a certain atmosphere use for photo shoots, role playing games, and just for walking. The ProGorodNN portal lists the TOP 10 abandoned, sometimes impressive, and sometimes creepy objects:

Abandoned church in the village of Lindo-Pustyn

A brick five-domed church in the Russian-Byzantine style with a two-aisle refectory and a hipped bell tower. The church was built in 1852 in the Russian-Byzantine style at the expense of the merchant Smirnov. It was closed in the late 1930s and is currently abandoned, but drawings of icons remain inside.

ZS GO No. 4, Nizhny Novgorod

The shelter is located next to the plant. Class A-2. The layout is standard.
It is noteworthy that the civil defense posters on the walls survived, since the fire that raged in the shelter almost did not touch them. There is absolutely nothing else here, unfortunately, everything was taken away. One of the exits is almost completely blocked, the second is open. Hermetic doors, FVU, equipment - everything was cut into metal long ago and taken away.

Borzovka River, Nizhny Novgorod

The Borzovka River flows on the surface for most of its length, but part of the river is located in a collector underground. In the tunnels there is water just above the shins. The diameter of the collectors is 2.5 meters. There is a current in the left tunnel, at the end there is a grate that blocks the entire exit, and some debris.

Adit No. 7 (“Holy Adit”), Nizhny Novgorod.

By a strange quirk of circumstances, the place is considered a “holy spring”. Perhaps the priests from the nearest temple had a hand in this. A couple of years ago, the water from this facility was much better and cleaner, but in 2011 an audit was carried out, which determined that the water had deteriorated and became dirtier.

"Slaughterhouse", Nizhny Novgorod

The place, which has been abandoned for almost 10 years, was a “slaughterhouse” plant.
The buildings are now very dilapidated, they are falling apart before our eyes. Laser tag is often played on the premises. Despite the fact that the facility is guarded, the perimeter is simply dotted with crawl spaces into the territory.

Red House, Nizhny Novgorod

The building is more than a hundred years old; about ten years ago they wanted to build a police station in it, but construction was frozen due to lack of budget. During World War II, a bomb fell on the building but did not explode. Now there are only walls, with ceilings preserved in some places. From the roof there is a good view of the small square and the temple nearby.

Flour mill, Nizhny Novgorod

A beautiful place on the embankment, a huge elevator. There are a lot of dogs here, and sometimes the bosses come. The exit to the roof is closed, but you can climb the side stairs.

Shelter under the Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin

Two small shelters that should be one. At the end of 2012 it was brewed.

Kuibyshev water pumping station, Nizhny Novgorod

Once upon a time this place was called the Kuibyshev water pumping station. The water pumping station was built in 1880 and existed for more than a century, until 1988. Today, this monument of historical and cultural heritage of the most peaceful purpose has become a rather dangerous place.

Chemical equipment plant, Nizhny Novgorod region

It's about a huge enterprise founded in the 1930s and declared bankrupt in the early 2000s, the territory of which is almost completely abandoned. There are more than a hundred buildings and a dozen and a half bomb shelters of varying capacities.

Let us remember that we previously wrote that

The existence of a certain intangible object in the building is evidenced by a previously made video recording. But even before the video appeared, many people talked about the mysterious entity, and also complained more than once that in the building they had a feeling of wild and inexplicable horror, from which they wanted to run as far as possible.

In the Kamensky House, rustling sounds, eerie voices are often heard, and strange shadows are also visible. In the city, the house gained notoriety after an employee of the staircase installation team found a treasure. But the man who discovered the ancient silver dishes was unable to prove to law enforcement officers that he had not kept anything for himself, and as a result he was sentenced to a term in the camps. As the legend goes, the owners of the house cursed their jewelry, and after death they returned to their house and have a negative attitude towards visitors.

The mental hospital is not a particularly pleasant place anyway, but there is nothing unusual about it. But in a hospital in the Nizhny Novgorod region there is a building that brings panic to all local residents. It is a two-story old building with a basement and a bell tower, it looks gloomy even in daylight, but at night it is unlikely to find a daredevil who dares to just stand near the building. According to local residents, a schoolgirl disappeared in the village several years ago. After a lengthy search, she was found dead in an abandoned hospital building; as classmates said, the girl hanged herself because of unrequited love. Since then, patients and hospital staff have heard bitter crying coming from the old building.

The Nizhny Novgorod Kremlin consists of a large number of towers, but Koromyslova is considered the most eerie and unusual. Two legends are associated with this tower. The first tells the story of a Russian woman who, with a yoke in her hand, drove away an armed horde. The second legend is much sadder. As it says, the workers were unable to build the wall, as it crumbled the next day, so they went to an old man who had a connection with dark forces. He told them to build a wall with the blood of the first person who passed near the construction, and the first person turned out to be a pregnant girl who was going to fetch water. The builders walled her up alive, along with the rocker, into the wall, which is why the Koromyslov Tower was named, and since then the girl in white clothes has been a passerby. By the way, it is a historically reliable fact that there are human bones at the foot of the tower.

Myzinsky Bridge is one of the most important sections of the M7 federal highway between Moscow and Ufa, but it is considered an anomalous place and has a bad reputation. Fatal accidents very often occur on the bridge, which, in principle, can be explained by the design feature, but at the same time, eyewitnesses talk about scary white silhouettes that sometimes appear literally from underground. In addition, suicides often occur here. In 2013, a service was held on the Myzinsky Bridge to cleanse the area of dark forces, but there were no fewer suicides or accidents.

The Semyonovsky forests are of incredible interest to those who like to deal with anomalous phenomena. The sanctity and unusualness of this area were described by the historian Melnikov-Pechersky in a book with the same name, but the observations of eyewitnesses defy any logic. After all, it was here that UFOs were spotted, and the forest itself at night becomes frightening and strange, shrouded in dense fog. In addition, an eerie and strange hum is heard, as if the earth itself was groaning. There is no documentary evidence of these facts, but there is a lot of eyewitness evidence.

There is some evidence of how subway passengers saw a man in a helmet in a narrow place of the tunnel between the wall and the train through the car windows, but this is simply unrealistic. In addition, strange grinding sounds and the crash of hammers are often heard in the subway tunnels, but this happens at a time when the platforms are practically empty. Locals they say that it is the workers who died during the construction of the Nizhny Novgorod metro in the eighties who are pampering themselves.

On the territory of the Lyskovsky district there is an abandoned but surprisingly well-preserved village of Shkavyrna. In the houses there are things in their places, a lot of valuable ones, as if the residents literally left the settlement for a minute. As residents of neighboring villages tell me, there lives a woman in Shkavyrna who always wears black clothes and picks up people. Everyone who went after her never returned. In fact, there are an abnormally high number of cases of missing people in this area, so looters try to ignore it.

About 20 years ago, a terrible accident occurred on a section of the road near Gorodets. The car with the newlyweds was returning from the registry office, everyone was cheerful and joyful, but at some point the driver was distracted, the car skidded, and it crashed straight into the truck. The newlyweds died on the spot. Since then, all those getting married from Gorodets go to the scene of the accident and tie a ribbon on a tree near it in memory of the deceased bride and groom. However, some companies came to this place for the purpose of walking and drinking, which, according to local residents, insulted the spirit of the bride. As a result, for many years now, a ghost in white clothes has suddenly appeared at this turn and scares drivers.

On the territory of the Krasnobakovsky district, fifteen kilometers from the village of Kirillovo, there is a large hill of earth in the forest. Local residents claim that the hill is the cursed burial place of a bloodthirsty warlord from other lands. As is known, during Tatar-Mongol invasion in these places there was a road for the army of Khan Shol. The khan himself died on the road, either from old age or from injury, and they buried him right in the thicket of the forest. According to the tradition of that time, a lot of jewelry, silver and gold were placed in the grave.

Many years passed, the legend of countless treasures was passed down from generation to generation, so there were a lot of people who wanted to get rich at the expense of the fanatical khan. But those who decided to dig up the grave died after that. Some villagers tell the stories of their grandfathers and great-grandfathers, which is why they try not to come close to the grave - it’s scary.

The village of Bochkari in the Sokolsky district was severely damaged by a fire in the fall of 2005; there were even people who died in the fire. After the disaster, the surviving people left the settlement, leaving for relatives, and the surviving houses still stand in the field.

On this moment the village is abandoned, but the strange thing is that no one robbed the remaining 15 houses, and in the village everything remains as if the inhabitants left their homes quite recently. There are rumors among the locals that people who took any things from the village were either seriously injured or died under strange circumstances. According to witnesses, a mirror appears in all accidents.

Eyewitnesses say that in the building of the Mordovian State Reserve near the city of Sarov there are a lot of ghosts. Before the revolution of 1917, the building housed the estate of a wealthy timber merchant, who was distinguished by his passion for violence and a very harsh disposition; they say that there were even murders at his hands. But his business collapsed, and immediately after the revolution he fled abroad, abandoning his estate. And the souls of the people who were killed by the timber merchant still wander around the building.

On the territory of the Tonashevsky district, people have more than once seen an unusual anomaly - a translucent village, the roofs of houses and windows glistening on the slope of a ravine. But there were no people or animals in the village. But as soon as you approach the settlement, it dissipates. After looking through old maps, local historians actually discovered that this place actually once was the village of Malaya Kuverba. But over time, it became abandoned, as residents moved to Bolshaya Kuverba. Old village gradually disappeared from the face of the earth and is shown only to berry and mushroom pickers. But they already know that the anomaly does not threaten them, so they are not afraid.

In the Nizhny Novgorod region there are many places that both attract and frighten with their mystery. Perhaps all this is fiction, but there is some truth in every legend.

Lake Svetloyar

This lake is considered one of the most mystical places in the Nizhny Novgorod region. It is located near the village of Vladimirskoye, Voskresensky district.

Scuba divers, exploring Svetloyar, found many anomalies: underwater descents, in the form of stairs, steep slopes, this suggests that the lake was formed in parts. Wooden objects from the 8th century were found at the bottom; perhaps they remained from ancient settlement. Were also noticed strange noises: buzzing, screaming, echo. There is a legend that, before sunrise and full moon, righteous people are given the opportunity to see the walls of a snow-white city with golden domes of temples, which is called Kitezh. The path to it is called the Batu Path.

Non-residential village Bochkari

In the Sokolsky district there is an abandoned village where, as they say, you can meet ghosts. In 2005, there was a fire that destroyed almost the entire population. As you know, an arson was set, as a result of which everything burned out over an area of almost 600 square meters.

Now the village is abandoned, but here’s what’s strange: the few surviving houses remain standing in the middle of the field. Nobody robs them and it feels as if the owners were only out for a couple of hours. Locals say that those who took something from the village later died. Perhaps, in this way, the village “looks after” the remaining houses.

Abandoned house in Dzerzhinsk

Houses No. 4 and 4a on Samokhvalova Street in Dzerzhinsk were built in the late 80s. Whether there are ghosts there or not, no one knows, but there is active debate.

According to legend, there is a cemetery next to these houses, which was closed immediately after the war. Sometimes on the second floor they see the lights on and some screams.

Vilskaya Polyana in the Vyksa region

It is very easy to get to this anomalous clearing; there is even a path passed by cars. Its dimensions are large. Very often they see circles in the sky, UFOs and much more.

In the clearing, the clock and all mechanical and electrical devices stop working. In the 90s, a group of scientists came to explore the clearing and spent a whole night of horrors. Some woke up with burned faces, while others saw white circles in the sky. A few years later, all the scientists died. People who find themselves in this clearing begin to behave inappropriately.

Uncle Lesha's Toy Yard

In the very center of Mexico there is the “Island of Dead Dolls”. There, all the trees are hung with dolls and parts of their bodies. The spectacle is truly gloomy. As it turned out, there is a similar place in Nizhny Novgorod.

There is a house on the edge of the slope near the metro bridge - its entire facade and yard are hung with multi-colored ribbons and old toys, and there is a carpet on the ground. As the owner of the house himself says, he did this for the children, so that they would be interested in playing. If a random passer-by passes by, this place will seem strange and even a little scary to him.

House with icons

In the center Nizhny Novgorod on Nizhegorodskaya Street there is a house that is all decorated with icons, church lamps and crosses. Walking past such a house in the evening, you can be seriously scared. Carpets hang not inside the house, but outside, a dog barks behind the fence, church paraphernalia - all this takes on a mystical appearance in the moonlight.

Residents of nearby houses have already become accustomed to their neighbors, but it is difficult to say what caused such decoration of the neighboring house.

Village "Bezvodnoye"

The village is located in the Kstovsky district. It is considered one of the most beautiful places in Russia; people come there to simply enjoy nature.

According to legend, strange lights are often observed there. Previously, the area belonged to Boris Godunov, and then to Prince Felix Yusupov, who killed Grigory Rasputin. Rasputin came to the waterless area and inquired about the burial place of nameless victims; this place was notorious among the villagers. After this, strange phenomena began to be noticed.

How many mysteries and secrets are still kept in our area? It is impossible to write about everyone. All this is passed on from mouth to mouth, sometimes in an exaggerated form, but it’s more interesting this way.
