Tasks for the regional stage of the Chemistry Olympiad. Chemistry

As in previous years, the regional stage All-Russian Olympiad schoolchildren in chemistry took place in the classrooms and laboratories of the Faculty of Chemistry of Tyumen State University. Faculty teachers, under the guidance of Professor N.A. Khritokhin together with representatives of Tyumen medical academy And Novosibirsk University formed the jury of the Olympiad. And the participants were 28 schoolchildren who scored the maximum number of points in the previous municipal stage.

The main test was, of course, the theoretical round. Participants in each parallel were offered five fairly complex tasks in various areas chemical science. There were complex compounds and Bordeaux mixture, and young chemists with ancient coins and fragments of the dissertation of the famous Russian chemist E.E. Wagner, and complex mathematical equations and multi-pass transformation schemes...
No one has been able to fully cope with many tasks, as can be clearly seen from the following diagrams:

In the experimental round, not too difficult tasks were proposed to recognize substances and mixtures. The tasks were traditional and the results were high. The 10th graders coped with their task especially easily.
Thus, the experimental round significantly improved (and perhaps embellished) the overall results of the Olympiad.
Nevertheless, few managed to overcome the 50% barrier.

So, the results:

9th grade. The four best participants of 9th grade, who showed fairly close results:

Third place was not awarded because the participant did not score 50% of the points. The results of other participants turned out to be significantly lower, especially according to the results of the theoretical round.
10th grade. Here, too, only two people surpassed the 50% barrier. And the top four results look like this:

The situation is the same here, there are only two winners. Weak results in the theoretical round did not give other participants the opportunity to claim a prize.
11th grade. There were two prizes in this parallel:

Unfortunately, here too, the third participant failed to overcome the 50% barrier, so only first and second places were awarded.

On February 16, 2010, the closing ceremony of the Olympiad took place in the Great Hall of the Tyumen Regional Duma. Participants who took third place, but did not become prize-winners, received diplomas “for their genuine interest in knowledge, work and perseverance in studying science.” The winners received silver and gold medals, cash prizes and wishes for successful performance at the final stage of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren.

The result of the Regional Chemistry Olympiad was that it produced the best young chemists The Tyumen region became the city of Tobollsk, and specifically the gymnasium named after. N.D. Litsman. Chemistry teacher at this school Zmanovskaya Galiya Ilgamovna I prepared four winners for this Olympiad alone.
Students of Tyumen teachers repeatedly take part in the Olympiad and take good places. T.Yu. Mogilnaya(Gymnasium of Tyumen State University) and N.T. Belkova(Secondary School No. 21), teacher of the Ishim General Education Lyceum S.A. Pankova.
We will expect the same successes from teachers in other urban and rural schools Tyumen region, and from their students!

Stage I

src="o-15/j-2015-1.jpg" width=283 height=255 border=0 align=right hspace=15 vspace=10>

The first stage of the regional chemical Olympiad for primary school students was held in February 2019 and 193 schoolchildren from the regional center, from other cities in the south of the region and from rural areas took part in it. Compared to last year, the number of participants increased by 9 people (+4.7%).

The tasks of the first stage, as in previous years, consisted of a test part (9 questions of basic and advanced difficulty levels), the answers to which were worth a maximum of 30 points, and 4 tasks with a detailed answer, allowing you to get up to another 70 points. The content of the tasks corresponded to the initial stage of teaching chemistry. It required participants to have knowledge of basic chemical concepts, the basics of chemical nomenclature, knowledge of basic chemical properties 4 classes inorganic compounds and mastery of standard methods chemical calculations: finding the molar masses of substances, the amount of substance, the number of atoms and molecules, calculations using reaction equations, using the concept of mass and volume fraction.

The diagram shows the distribution of Olympiad participants according to the success of their results (sum of points scored). 29 students scored 50 or more points, which was 15% of the total number of participants. At the same time, 52 students (27%) received less than 10 points. All this indicates that many participants lack sufficient preparation.

The second diagram shows the success of completing individual tasks of the Olympiad by three groups of participants: the entire stream, 50% of the best participants and 15% of those who scored more than half the points. It can be seen that for all groups the greatest difficulty was task No. 3, devoted to the process of separating a mixture using chemical and physical processes. For weaker groups, task 1 was also difficult, requiring the derivation of the formula of a substance based on the number of structural units. Participants were most successful in coping with test task, although here GPA the total flow of participants was 13.8 points (46%).

The greatest successes in the correspondence round of the Olympiad were achieved by schoolchildren from gymnasium No. 21 of Tyumen (chemistry teacher Zmanovskaya G.I.), FGKOU "Tyumen Presidential cadet school"(chemistry teacher Saranchina N.V.), MAOU Secondary School No. 16 of Tobolsk (chemistry teacher Grinko S.G.), MAOU "Yarkovskaya Secondary School" (chemistry teacher Sharametova L.G.), MAOU "Secondary School No. 1" Zavodoukovskaya (chemistry teacher Zolotavina E.A.).

Stage II

Schoolchildren who scored more than 70 points in the correspondence stage, 16 people, were invited to stage II. Unfortunately, only 11 of them were able to actually take part in the face-to-face stage. The stage took place on March 29 in secondary school No. 63 in Tyumen.

The tasks of stage II were close in form and content to the tasks of the All-Russian Olympiad for schoolchildren. Participants were asked to solve 5 problems with a detailed answer, meaningfully corresponding to the main topics of the 8th grade chemistry course: the structure of the atom and periodic table DI. Mendeleev, amount of substance, calculations according to chemical equations and composition of solutions, volumes of gases, main classes of inorganic compounds. All tasks were worth 10 points, so the maximum participants could score at this stage was 50 points.

Unfortunately, the preparation of the participants did not allow them to score even half the possible number of points. Problem No. 3 turned out to be the most difficult for them. Perhaps because it was large in terms of text volume and the number of calculations to solve it, although the calculations themselves did not go beyond the scope of standard problems school course(composition of the solution, preparation of a solution of a given concentration). It was also difficult to use Avogadro's constant (task No. 1) and determine the possibility of ion exchange reactions occurring (task No. 5).

Nevertheless, the Olympics revealed its winner. The best result of stage II was shown by a student from Tyumen gymnasium No. 21, Viktor Nikolaev (chemistry teacher Zmanovskaya G.I.). Similar results were shown by Anastasia Yakushkina (also gymnasium No. 21) and Aleksey Gavinovich (Borovskaya Secondary School, teacher of chemistry Olga Alekseevna Gavinovich). In conditional third place is Svetlana Tyumentseva (MAOU "Yarkovskaya Secondary School", chemistry teacher L. G. Sharametova)

We congratulate all the participants of the Junior Olympiad on their first experience of participating in the Chemistry Olympiad and wish them and their mentors new and better results in next year’s Olympiads!
